Columbia Wedding Photography Hilton Head Island

Welcome to RIM Photography! I LOVE what I do and I think it shows through the images I capture. I believe in living life JOYFULLY. I express this joy and ZEST for life through my photojournalism approach to wedding photography. Whether sweetly reflective or energetically exuberant, I'll find those moments that tell the UNIQUE story of your South Carolina wedding day. With RIM Photography, you won't just see the images, you'll feel the emotion. Contact RIM Photography and make the wedding pictures of your dreams a reality.

Jumping for Joy

I love when couples are game for some creative poses like this bride and groom after their South Carolina destination beach wedding. A low angle helps them take flight over the Hilton Head Island beach.

Flower Girl Prep

Pictures like these are why I absolutely love that anticipatory air before a wedding. I come at least 90 minutes before the ceremony to capture all these wonderful moments at they naturally occur. No stopping you to pose, just real emotions and real moments.

Carolina Bride

After the wedding at Rutledge Chapel on the campus of the University of South Carolina, we took some time to stroll around the Horseshoe as the newlyweds, so wrapped up in each other, made it easy to capture moments like these that not only show you how beautiful the bride is, but how she was feeling.

It's in the Details

This bride must have scoured Pinterest for months as she had every detail planned out to perfection. The embroidered cuffs with her wedding date and "I do" were the perfect touch. We always make sure to photograph all these special touches that make your wedding unique.

Dawndy & Craig

Columbia brides may recognize WIS TV news anchor Dawndy Mercer Plank who wed Craig Plank at Cobblestone Park in Blythewood. Love the non-traditional custom designed wedding dress she wore and her splash of Gerbera daisies in the bouquet.

Marine Marriage

I love a military wedding, and, as the daughter of career Marine, I will always hold a special place in my heart for those who serve in the Corps. It's hard for me to pick my favorite part about this picture: the dress uniform, the setting, or that darling heart painted on the bottom of the bride's blue shoes.

Tear at First Sight

I'm always touched by a genuine reaction from the groom when he sees his bride for the first time. Having an outside wedding like this one on the lawn at Callawassie Island Club in Okatie, gives us the opportunity to have a good position to photograph not only the bride walking down the aisle but the groom's reaction as well. With two photographers, you get all the important moments covered.

All Eyes

This wedding party takes the cake for being ready, willing and able to do a variety of creative poses. This was my first attempt at the classic bridal party reaction to the wedding couple's kiss. It remains one of my favorites.

Bridesmaids & Bouquets

Bridal party poses are easy when you've picked the right women to be by your side! Doing a First Look gives us plenty of time for fun poses before the wedding ceremony without the rush of having to hightail it to the reception. The landscaping around The Westin Hilton Head Island provided a perfect backdrop as we came up with playful poses.

Porch Swing Poses

The Plantation Golf Club at Sea Pines Resort provides the perfect setting for some typically Southern charm portraits after the wedding. While we always photograph the classic bride and groom poses looking at the camera, giving the newlyweds their own space to interact can produce more intimate moments like this.

Beach Wedding

So many options for a beach wedding in South Carolina. The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa offers an open-air pavilion and an oceanfront deck near the beach. A stroll post-wedding gives us opportunities for poses amidst the dunes and seagrass.

Make-up Magic

Beautiful light can turn an ordinary photo into an extraordinary one just like make-up artists can transform brides from beautiful to breathtaking. When I walk into a room, the first thing that strikes me is the light. When looking at a venue, be sure to ask where the bride gets ready and see if there is natural light and plenty of room for you and your girls.

First Dance Lace House

Sigh. The emotion in this first dance photo takes my breath away. It's not over-the-top but so deeply felt that there is no doubt how the bride and groom feel about each other. Three children later, they are still going strong. What a privilege to be there for the beginning.

Bride Side Fun

How do I get so lucky to photograph such fun-loving girls? This was another bridal party who made posing easy with a few ideas of their own to mix in with mine. As a photographer, you'll find me easy-going and always willing to entertain new ideas for group portraits. The poses that come up spontaneously in the midst of the planned tend to be my favorites.

Dad & Daughter

Gotta love some daddy/daughter time whether it's an official First Look for father and daughter or candidly capturing this moment together. This spacious room for the bride at Northeast Presbyterian Church in Columbia meant we could photograph moments like these without the clutter of a distracting background.

Tying the Knot

Behind the scenes moments are among my favorites. Our photojournalistic approach to wedding photography means you get moments like these as they naturally occur.

Reflection of Beauty

To mix things up a bit, I like to use a variety of focal length lenses when photographing weddings. Tighter images like this bring you closer in to the subject like this beautiful bride getting ready at The Millstone at Adams Pond. The more close-up images also provide a better variety of pictures for designing wedding books and albums.

Daddy Daughter Dance

There is something about a daddy and his little girl that makes me a bit misty-eyed, especially if the dad has to wipe a few tears away himself. Love the angle on this photograph of the father daughter dance where you can see the joy evident on both their faces. This first dance at 701 Whaley was a classic.

All Smiles

The tighter the shot, the more impactful the emotion. No doubt how this USC grad feels about her fellow Gamecock as they walk around the USC Horseshoe in Columbia. This particular smile was her reacting to her groom's surprised look that she had installed a brick paver on the walkway with their wedding date.

Vision in White

This sweet bride, who hailed from Russia, wanted to make an entrance. She did just that at The Members Club at Woodcreek in Columbia, SC, when she wore this tulle ball gown wedding dress. The groom's mom, an accomplished artist, loved this photo so much that she used it as inspiration for an oil painting.

The Book of Us

I thought this was one of the most thoughtful gifts a bride could give her groom, and obviously the groom thought so as well. Whether it's writing your groom a letter on your wedding day or journaling from the moment you met, such a personal gesture is bound to touch the heart. And a groom who is tender enough to shed a tear is tops in my book.

Pretty in Purple

Two great ideas for the wedding day: matching personalized robes and renting a home for the bridal party to all bunk together. Having space to spread out puts everyone at ease like this showcase Okatie, SC, home in Oldfield Plantation. By arriving 90 minutes to two hours before the wedding, there is plenty of time for bridal party poses before everyone starts getting ready for the wedding.

Guys Just Wanna Have Fun

OK, I gotta admit, we spend a bit more time with the girls than the guys, 'cuz, hey, they are usually a lot more fun! Or maybe the guys are a lot more fun when the camera isn't around? Either way, I was pleased to get this picture which captures the mood of these groomsmen as they prepared for their friend's big day at The Millstone at Adams Pond.

Mother Daughter Moment

I love everything about this: the touch of the mother's hand, the expressions on both the mom and bride, even the way the bride's left hand is holding her veil. Notice anything else? The mirror in back adds another dimension. This bridal room at Northeast Presbyterian Church in Columbia is the most spacious getting-ready church room I've encountered yet. The full-length mirror is a must-have on your wedding day.

Finishing Touches

The groom straightens his tie before tying the knot at Callawassie Island Club in Okatie, SC. At this all inclusive venue near Bluffton and Hilton Head Island, the groom and groomsmen have plenty of room to stretch out in the well-equipped locker room next to the pro shop while the women have a spacious second floor room that overlooks the wedding site.

Fosyth Park Wedding

We love our Savannah weddings, especially with a setting like this. Forsyth Park in the historic district of Savannah covers 30 acres but the Forsyth Park Fountain is by far, its most iconic spot. Popular as a spectacular backdrop for proposals and weddings, it makes for a picture-perfect wedding.

Callawassie Island Club Bride

This bride was all about the details: monogrammed knee socks for the whole bridal party, embroidered cuffs with the wedding date and a personalized hanger for the bridal gown which is always a nice touch. By booking extra time for photography before the ceremony we were able to take time to hang the dress outside on the arbor and photograph all the details of accessories and reception decor at Callawassie Island Club in Okatie, South Carolina.

Taking a Peek

Love the addition of children to a wedding as they can bring such joy, much of it spontaneous and utterly unexpected. The ring bearer and junior groomsmen at this Columbia wedding take a peek around the corner to see what all the fuss is about as the girls get ready. Candid photography capturing moments like these is the hallmark of RIM Photography.

Oldfield Plantation Bride & Groom

Don't let the sun fool you, this bride and groom braved below freezing tempertures and spots of snow at Oldfield Plantation for their Lowcountry portrait session. Love the First Look between a bride and groom for not only that special time between them but also for giving us an opportunity for pre-ceremony portraits at a comfortable pace. For winter weddings like this one where the sun sets as early as 5:15 p.m., it's important that your wedding planner and photographer work together to develop a timeline that takes into consideration available light and portrait times.

Hands Down

I've said it before, but I do so love the time before the wedding ceremony when everyone is bustling about waiting on the bride hand and foot to help her prepare. When it took this many hands on deck to get the garter just right, I knew we had to pause for a picture.

Love Sparklers

As a surprise for the bride, I gathered four bridesmaids and double the number of sparklers (hint: always order the extra long ones) for a little evening sparkle. The easy part is having a tripod and timing the long exposure. The difficult part is coordinating the bridesmaids to create proportional letters at the same speed. For the bridesmaids who've had a little too much fun the reception? Stick them with the "O" and "V". The other two have to write their letters backwards.

Full Length Gown Bridal Portrait

This balcony window at The Millstone at Adams Pond provides a beautiful setting to showcase Courtney's bridal gown before she heads outside for her wedding at this enchanting Columbia venue. Acres of natural landscape with wooded paths and a home with brick patio and a wrap around open deck add to the Southern charm.

String of Pearls

Living in the South tends to mean a respect for tradition like the wearing of heirloom family pearls paired with a modern wedding gown.

First Dance Look

I love seeing the love between a bride and groom and the First Dance offers the perfect opportunity to capture these more intimate moments. Look at how he is looking at her (sigh). Capturing real moments like this is the hallmark of my photography.

Monogrammed Socks

This bride was like a walking Pinterest board with special touches like monogrammed knee socks and cuffs with the embroidered wedding date. At RIM Photography, we make sure we document these details which add a nice variety to your wedding image package.

Lace House Bridal Gown

When RIM Photography arrives on site, one of the first things we do is find a nice setting to display the wedding gown. With the Lace House, on the grounds of the South Carolina Governor's Mansion, we didn't have to look far. This canopy bed in a well-appointed bedroom that served as the bridal party's preparation room was the perfect spot. The pumpkin-colored wedding shoes offered just a touch of whimsy to this historical setting.

Flower Girl Sneak Peak

After dutifully walking down the aisle sprinkling flower petals, this little flower girl just had to turn around to get a peak at her aunt coming down the garden entranceway on the grounds of the Lace House in Columbia.
